Split vs. Cassette vs. Ductable AC: Which Is Right for Your Space?

Whether you're setting up a new home, office, or showroom, the type of AC you choose affects both cost and how well it actually cools your space.

Split AC

Best for: single rooms, homes, small offices. Wall-mounted indoor unit, easiest and cheapest to install, widest range of price points and capacities.

Cassette AC

Best for: offices, showrooms, restaurants with false ceilings. Mounted flush into the ceiling, cools evenly across the room from all four sides, more discreet than a wall unit — but installation needs a false ceiling and costs more upfront.

Ductable AC

Best for: larger open-plan spaces, multiple rooms from one unit, when you want zero visible indoor units. Cooling is distributed through hidden ductwork — higher installation complexity and cost, but the cleanest look and can serve multiple rooms from a single outdoor unit.

Quick decision guide

  • Single room, tightest budget → Split AC
  • Office/showroom with a false ceiling already planned → Cassette AC
  • Multiple rooms, want no visible indoor units → Ductable AC
  • Large single hall or multi-zone commercial space → VRF/VRV system
